Matt English
Business Law & Trademarks
In 2011, after leaving government service, Matt joined a small Lexington firm where he focused on complex civil litigation. Handling contentious and often protracted litigation borne out of everything from poorly worded contracts, to vague indemnification clauses, to handshake partnership agreements, Matt repeatedly witnessed the undeniable truth of Benjamin Franklin’s proverb that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Matt draws on his clerkship and litigation experience to help his clients avoid common pitfalls and lessen the potential for litigation as they set up, protect, and grow their businesses.
Matt is admitted to practice in Kentucky, New York, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court – Eastern District of Kentucky. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, and WealthCounsel.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys running, hiking, woodworking, and coaching his son’s soccer team.
